Is Amaran Based on a True Story?

Amaran is a biographical war film that tells the story of Major Mukund Varadarajan who served in the Indian Army from 2006 to 2014. He became the fourth recipient of India’s highest peacetime military decoration award Ashoka Chakra from Tamil Nadu.

The film is adapted from the book series India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which includes a segment on Major Mukund.

The story is narrated by Mukund’s wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese who shares everything, from how they met to his passion for the Indian Army, his life in service and his sacrifices, as she travels to Delhi to receive his Ashoka Chakra awarded posthumously.

Where to Watch Amaran

Netflix purchased the film’s streaming rights. However, the film was reported to be released on the platform in November, although seeing the success of the film, the release date was postponed. Amaran started streaming on Netflix on 5 December 2024 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages.

At the moment, Amaran is not available on any other streaming platforms except Netflix. You’ll need a subscription to watch this film.
