Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently one of the most sought-after directors mainly because of his cinematic universe, known as LCU – Lokesh Cinematic Universe. The director has been working on a short film about the events leading to the origin of the LCU.
Recently, He revealed the poster for his film titled Chapter Zero, which itself hints about the storyline. It suggests that the film will explore the beginnings of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU)—essentially, Chapter Zero represents what happened just before the LCU officially began.
Chapter Zero – Lokesh’s Short Film Origin of LCU
The short film will feature a 10-minute prelude and it’s undoubtedly written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, under his production banner G Squad. Alongside, the director tagged on X’s post composer Anirudh Ravichander, action choreographers Anbariv, cinematographer Selvakumar, editor Philomin Raj, art director Sateeshkumar and costume designer Praveen Raja.
The poster features numbers of guns and pistols on a table facing each other arranged to form the number Zero. The text reads 1 Shot, 2 Stories, 24 Hours – A 10 Minutes Prelude To The Origins Of LCU. Although the exact release date is not known yet, fans can expect Chapter Zero to premiere sometime in 2025, possibly before the release of much awaited Coolie.
Fans seem to be very curious and excited about the short film. Some are a little disappointed just because of the run time because they have been expecting a 30-minute run time but overall it will be good to see events that led to the LCU origins.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Next With Superstar Rajnikanth
We all know that Lokesh is currently working with superstar Rajnikanth on the upcoming film Coolie. The makers of the film released a short teaser of the film almost 3 months back which got millions of views across all languages. A couple of weeks back, Lokesh teases the fans with the characters’ posters of the film.
The posters have a monochromatic vibe with only red and gold colour highlighted hinting at the theme of violence and gold smuggling. As with Lokesh’s previous works—Leo, Master, Vikram, and Kaithi—Coolie is expected to feature intense action and a gripping storyline.
Alongside Rajnikanth, The film will feature Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Upendra in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled for release in 2025, although the exact release date still kept under wraps.
