The ace director Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed in an interview that he had planned to bring Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth together for a film during the Covid period and even wrote a script, but it didn’t work out. He eventually collaborated with Kamal Haasan in Vikram and is now working with Rajinikanth in Coolie.
Coolie Tentative Release Date Revealed
During the filming for the 2019 film Master, Lokesh Kanagaraj met with Rajinikanth for the film Coolie. Things didn’t work out that time that’s why Coolie got delayed. It was supposed to be Rajinikanth’s 169th film, however, that position went to Jailer.
After several rumours that the film got shelved and delayed, the film is finally coming. The makers released the title teaser for the film almost six months back which got millions of views and positive reviews. Since then fans have been very excited about the film.
The film was rumoured to have a grand release in June 2025 but recent updates suggest it might arrive sooner than expected. As per recent social media buzz, the makers are planning for a release on May 1, 2025. However, this is not yet confirmed. Several well-known industry insiders have hinted that the film would arrive on Labour Day 2025.
Who’s in the Cast of Coolie
Superstar Rajinikanth will play the role of Deva in the film. The ensemble cast also features Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Shruthi Haasan in significant roles.
The makers have released feature posters for each character. The monochromatic vibe suggests that the characters will have flashback stories, while the red and gold highlights in the posters hint at intense violence and themes of gold smuggling.
