Mozhi

Decades ago, Mozhi was released which tells how impactful could be a simple story if presented in the right way. Directed by Radha Mohan, the film was critically acclaimed and praised by fans and critics alike. The film was even premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

There could be several romantic films but it hit you differently. Hats off to Radha Mohan who directed and wrote the story of the film. Also, Prithviraj Sukumaran as Karthik and Jyothka as Archana were outstanding. They live the characters. This is not just a romantic film but it shows how people deal with social fear, anxiety, disability, mental health, and many more things.

It follows the story of Karthik, a musician who falls in love with a girl named Archana. However, she is deaf and mute, as well as quite stubborn. When he confesses her feeling to her, she rejects his love and considers him just a friend. The rest of the story explores how Archana accepts Karthik’s love. It doesn’t matter how many times you would have watched this film, but every time it will giveyou a fresh feeling. Just give it a try.

Oopiri

This is another Karthi’s film which is like Meiyazhagan. The story follows Vikramaditya, a quadriplegic multimillionaire who hires Seenu, a man who is out on parole. They both enjoy their life and highlight the importance of life above everything like wealth and disability.

Karthi was fantastic in the role of Seenu. The actor performed flawless his role just like he played in Meiyazhagan. Nagarjuna played Vikramaditya and Tamannaah Bhatia as Keerthi. Directed and co-written by Vamshi Paidipally, the film earned several awards and nominations including Filmfare Awards South: Best Director (Telugu).

It is highly recommended if you are looking for something to watch after Meiyazhagan. It offers you a roller-coaster journey of comedy and emotions that will leave you entertained and inspired.

Vikram Vedha

There would be many may ask why this film in the list. I put it on the list because Vikram Vedha beautifully shows true bromance. We have seen Vedha’s love for his younger brother, and he can go beyond anything to give justice to his brother’s killer. Even, the makers highlighted the strong connection between Vikram and Vedha.

Vikram-Vedha

It was a crime thriller film written and directed by Pushkar–Gayathri who is known for making Suzhal: The Vortex which has been renewed for the second season.

The film received huge success in Tamil which was later remade in Hindi as well under the same title but didn’t achieve the same success as Tamil’s version. It is also one of the films which you can watch multiple times without getting bored.

Pithamagan

The highly recommended film on the list is Pithamagan. The film will make you cry because the last one of the film is full of emotions. Vikram in the titular role acted perfectly. He carries the whole film on his shoulder but Suriya and Laila are also good. Directed and written by Bala, the film earned Vikram the National Film Award for Best Actor. It was later remade in Kannada as Anatharu.

The film’s story is completely out of the box. It tells the story of a child whose mother dies in the graveyard when she is giving him birth. The child’s name is Chithan, raised by the graveyard’s caretaker. He grows up among corpses with minimal human contact and is perhaps more feral than autistic. When he comes up in human contact, it is something different experience.
